Every July 4th we celebrate with American flags and red, white, and blue. .. but what do these colors stand for and mean. The flag of the United States of America is a symbol of freedom and liberty. When I was in grade school each day began with the pledge of allegiance. Standing at attention, with reverence and facing the flag with my right hand over my heart, and reciting: "I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all." It was a simple daily act that taught me as a child the tradition of the flag and the respect we are to have for it. It is so sad and shameful to see the decline of that today! In 1777, the Continental Congress passed a resolution “that the flag of the thirteen United States is thirteen stripes, alternate red and white; that the union is thirteen stars, white in a blue field, representing a new constellation.” Since that time, generations of Americans have celebrated the flag as a symbol of our God-given freedoms and God-blessed nation. 13 stripes: The seven red and six white horizontal stripes represent the original 13 colonies. The colors of the flag are symbolic as well; red symbolizes hardiness and valor, the bloodshed by many to keep our country free, white symbolizes purity and innocence, and blue represents vigilance, perseverance, and justice. I pray we can be "One Nation Under God Again!"

Spreading Christmas Cheer!
Christmas has officially arrived at our house. We always begin decorating early to enjoy the season longer. Bringing out all the decor always brings warm wonderful memories and traditions. One classic tradition our family does every year is to send out Christmas Cards to our dear family and friends. This year has been different and not seeing loved ones has been tough, so sending a card is a wonderful way to keep in touch.
