Blessed New Year 2024!

Happy New Year, everyone! As we look to a new year and season full of so many opportunities, I think of my hopes and dreams, especially my prayers for 2024. I pray for God's peace, hope, and joy for you all in this new year HE has blessed us with! And for each of us to see the life-changing message of God's love. Christmas may be over and tucked away until next winter, but we can open our hearts to celebrate Jesus all year long!

Our family always likes to take DaySpring's Word of the Year Quiz to find our 2023 Word of the Year - just one word to help us focus on what God calls us to accomplish in the year ahead. My word for the year was Trust, which reminds me of an old hymn dear to my heart...

Trust and obey, for there's no other way To be happy in Jesus but to trust and obey

Oh, Trust and obey, for there's no other way To be happy in Jesus but to trust and obey

And 'Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus Just to take Him at His Word, Just to rest upon His promise, Just to know, "Thus saith the Lord."

Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him! How I've proved Him o'er and o'er Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus! Oh, for grace to trust Him more.

With Scripture, God gives us the answers we crave as we cling to HIS hope. So, let's turn to HIS Word as we focus on a direction for the next twelve months rather than resolutions that only last a few days. Let's look to the Lord for help to live our faith in 2024.

I heard this new song yesterday on KLOVE from Katy Nichole, "My God Can." This song reminds us even though we might not be able to conquer all, there is still hope in Jesus! So, when we feel weak, God is strong! God never fails! With God, all is possible; when we can't, God can! The song is based on Phillipian 4:13. Sharing HIS Light ~ Merry Blessed Christmas

Merry Christmas, my Dear Friends!! I can't believe it’s almost here? We are trying to soak up all these last moments... family gathering, advent, wrapping presents, watching Christmas movies, and doing lots of baking! Enjoying every minute of this most wonderful time of the year!

I am truly thankful for all of you here who visit; it is such a blessing! Your kindness and support mean more to me than I could ever express. God Bless You All!

I wanted to share with you a sweet poem from Valerie Parr Hill; you may know her from QVC and all her beautiful home decor. This poem from her mother brighten my day, and I hope it does the same for you! It is so touching, and I knew it would be fitting to include it in my Christmas card to all of you.

I also try to share a touching Christmas story, and this year, I found one that melted my heart and brought tears of joy! I pray it blesses you as well!

Waiting…..Waiting for Christmas

Herman and I finally locked our store and dragged ourselves home. It was 11 p.m., Christmas Eve. We’d sold almost all of our toys, and all of the layaway, except one package, had been picked up. But the person who had put a dollar down on that package never appeared.

Early Christmas morning, our 12-year-old son, Tom, Herman, and I were out under the tree opening up gifts. But there was something humdrum about this Christmas. Tom was grown up, and I missed his childish exuberance of past years. As soon as breakfast was over, he left to visit friends, and Herman disappeared into the bedroom, mumbling, “I’m going back to sleep.”

So there I was alone. It was nearly 9 a.m. Sleet mixed with snow cut the air outside. “Sure, glad I don’t have to go out on a day like today,” I thought to myself. And then it began—something I’d never experienced before. A strange, persistent urge. “Go to the store,” it seemed to say. “That’s crazy,” I said to myself, “no one opens shop on Christmas day.” For an hour, I fought that strange feeling. Finally, I could stand it no longer. I got dressed. I put on my wool coat, placed my hat on my head, and then my galoshes, scarf, and gloves. Once outside, the wind cut right through me, and sleet stung my cheeks. I felt ridiculous. I had no business being out in the bitter chill.

There was the store just ahead. “But, what in the world?” I wondered. In front of the store stood two little boys—huddled together, poorly dressed, and half frozen. One was about nine, the other six.

“Here she comes!” yelled the older one. “See, I told you she would come,” he said. The younger one’s face was wet with tears, but when he saw me, his eyes opened wide, and his sobbing stopped.

“What are you two children doing out here?” I scolded, hurrying them into the store.

“We’ve been waiting for you,” replied the older. “My little brother Jimmy didn’t get any Christmas. We want to buy some skates. That’s what he wants.”

I looked at the three dollars in his hand and at their expectant faces. Then I looked around the store. “I’m sorry,” I said, “but we have no ska….” Then my eye caught sight of the layaway shelf with its lone package. Could it be? I walked over and unwrapped the package. Miracles of miracles, there was a pair of skates!

Jimmy reached for them. “Lord,” I said silently, “let them be his size.” And miracle added upon miracle. They were his size. When the older boy finished tying the laces and saw that the skates fit perfectly, he stood up and presented the dollars to me.

“No, I’m not going to take your money,” I told him. “I want you to have these skates and use your money to get some gloves for your hands.” What I saw in Jimmy’s eyes was like a blessing. It was pure joy, and it was beautiful. My low spirits rose.

As I locked the door, I turned to the older brother and said, “How lucky that I happened to come along when I did. How did you boys know I would come?”

I wasn’t prepared for his reply. His gaze was steady, and he answered me softly. “I knew you would come. I asked Jesus to send you.”

The tingles in my spine weren’t from the cold. I knew God had planned this. As we waved goodbye, I returned home to a brighter Christmas than I had left.

Get the Lʘʘk: Laura Vandervoort & Benjamin Ayres' Fashions from Hallmark Movies & Mysteries "Miracle in Bethlehem, PA"

DaySpring is be premiering a new Christmas Movie...Miracle in Bethlehem, PA, starring Laura Vandervoort & Benjamin Ayres, on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. I recall another Hallmark movie set in the town of Bethlehem, PA... "A Season of Miracles"  one of my favorite Hallmark Hall of Fame movies.

Movie Synopsis ~ Successful and fiercely independent, Mary Ann Brubeck(Laura Vandervoort) adopts a baby girl to raise on her own just before Christmas. Due to the weather, she and the baby get stuck in Bethlehem, PA, for the holidays. When there is no room at the inn, her only option is to stay with the innkeeper's brother Joe(Benjamin Ayres), a quintessential bachelor who lives in a house that he treats like a barn. As Mary Ann learns the value of community by spending time with Joe's family and participating in the local church's Christmas events, Joe starts getting his act together with new motivation…and the two begin to see each other in a new light.

Get the Lʘʘk: Meghan Ory & Christopher Russell's Fashions from Hallmark Channel's "The Secret Gift of Christmas"

The Secret Gift of Christmas is premiering this Friday on the Hallmark Channel. By the looks of the photos, it will be a fun-filled Holiday movie filled with festive fashions galore! I was especially drawn to Meghan Ory's stylish clothes, so I had to shop, see what I could find, and share it with you all!

The story of this movie reminds me a lot of one of my favorites a few years back on Lifetime: "A Gift Wrapped Christmas." I absolutely love that movie and catch it every year, so hopefully, this will be the same. Check out my fashion finds below from Hallmark's "The Secret Gift of Christmas"!

Movie Synopsis ~ Bonnie (Meghan Ory) is a personal shopper who helps her new, widowed client, Patrick (Christopher Russell), reconnect with his young daughter. Though Bonnie and Patrick's ideas of shopping couldn't be more different, she is determined to get Patrick and his daughter everything on their wish list.
