New Year, New Fashion to Start the Year off Right!

Happy New Year, Everyone. I pray you all had a wonderful Christmas. It was such a blessing to be together and celebrate His Birth. Of course, it went by way too fast, as always!

I love this time of newness and stillness after a busy holiday season. It is also a great time to refresh and renew! With a couple weeks off, I am back at my daily workouts. It feels good to get back in the groove. I have also had some time to browse one of my favorite stores, Loft, which I knew would have new arrivals at the first of the year! I really love their Lou & Grey line for lounge and activewear. They are comfortable, affordable, and cute! You may have received gift cards from Loft that you can't wait to spend or if you are ready for some spring looks, I have picked some of my favorites below that are available right now at Loft. After a week of bitter cold and snowy weather, I am ready for some warmer temps. With that, here are new fashion arrivals from Loft that will help us get active, stay motivated, and look good in this new year!

Walk by Faith ~ Comfort in God & Your Shoes

The following content contains affiliate links with Zappos. When you click and shop the links, I receive a commission.

You might be asking what God has to do with my shoes. Well, I thought the same thing until this morning.

Today, as I was exercising, a praise song came on... 𝆕𝆕𝆕I walk by faith, each step by faith; to live by faith, I put my trust in You.𝆕𝆕𝆕 My daily walk is not only about keeping fit but drawing me closer to HIM. He wants to be our comfort and peace.

God laid on my heart to share this with you all today. I just intended to do my favorite go-to shoes for every day that are comfortable, fun, and enjoyable to wear. But, God showed me that, like those Skechers that I put on every day to work out, He wants to be our comfort. He wants us to have fun and abundant joy in The Lord!

The kinds of shoes we wear determine our comfort, speed, charisma, and journey for the day. An uncomfortable pair of shoes can ruin your day, much like a life without Christ! I pray for as many of you that read this blog post that you not only find some cute shoes but the shoes God has designed for your life. For when the times get hard, we need a good pair of shoes for the journey ahead of us. I have all kinds of shoes... sandals, heels, boots, etc., but if I had to choose a pair for a long journey, I would choose my Skecher shoes. Our journey of faith deserves the best shoes! Good soul in my heart to keep me close to the Lord and good soles on my feet, both keeping me steady and strong each day! So walking by faith with each step, and living by faith and putting our trust in HIM will not only build your relationship with Christ but help you achieve HIS greatness every day.

See Below some of my favorite Skechers Shoes at Zappos, for all the family to keep your feet comfy and fashionable!

New from Skechers for fall and my favorite are the Synergy - Pretty Hiker, with a sweater knit trim. This pretty hiker boot lets you do what you love while still looking fashionable. And don't worry about keeping them pristine as you go -- they're water-resistant! Pretty, practical and pink! Stay warm and cozy this season in this new boot from Skechers! See Here:

I wanted to include this story about Steph Curry in my Blessings for the Day. I am not an avid basketball game watcher, but I was taken by Golden State Warriors Stephen Curry story and strong faith in the Lord. If you ever paid attention to Curry’s sneakers, you may have seen “I can do all things” written in Sharpie on his shoes. The words come from Philippians 4:13, and Curry has been writing the Bible verse on his sneakers ever since his college days. It is what drives him to do his best! And isn't that what God wants us to do, to give and be our best? Yes, of course!!!

Have A Wonderful Day!

20 Ways to Help Improve Your Immune System and NOT Get Sick!

Keeping your immune system strong is a must to fight off getting sick every winter. A strong immune system involves eating right and getting plenty of rest. I pray every night for my family's health and to keep our immune systems up. Of course, over the years our family has had an occasional cold and the flu, and so along the way, I have learned what can help us not get sick! Bacteria, viruses, and parasites are all around us. So, what can we do to protect ourselves? Here are some ways that might reduce your chance of getting sick, some are bad habits that a lot of people do every day and how to change them:

1. Don't wear outdoor shoes inside your home.
Everything you can think of that is on the ground outside is now in your house... bird poop, dog poop, engine oil, chemicals, gum, and so on.
Solution: Take your shoes off before you enter your home then place them on a shoe tray. Wash Your Hands after taking your shoes off. I always wash my hands when I get home from anywhere!

2. You place your purse, backpack, briefcase, coat, or anything on the ground… in restaurants, on planes, and in other public spaces.
The reasoning is the same as wearing shoes inside your home.
Solution: I personally never put my purse on the floor or anything else. My lap is where my purse always goes.

3. You pump gas… then carry on with your day
You have no idea who last touched that handle. In six major U.S. cities, 71 percent of gas-pump handles sampled the highest levels of contamination.
Solution: Have disinfecting wipes ready in your car before you pump your gas, so you don't contaminate the container your wipes are in.

4. You bite your nails.
If you put bite your nails, and your hands or nails aren’t clean, you’re putting germs into your body!
Solution: Tried to stop and if you can’t, make sure your hands are clean, with proper hand-washing. Use a nail brush and clean under your nails, and wash your hands again and again!

5. Your dog or cat licks your face
A pet's tongue is not clean, due to the fact of how they use it to clean after going potty.
Solution: I know it might be hard because they are so adorable, but if you can, keep your face away from your pet. Also, wash your hands after petting them.

6. You never clean your cell phone.
Your phone is possibly the dirtiest item you own. That’s because phones are constantly in dirty hands and on dirty surfaces.
Solution: Wipe your phone's face with vinegar, and clean the rest of your phone with alcohol. All with a damp cloth.

7. Eat Fruits and Vegetables
Fruits and veggies are loaded with vitamins and minerals that boost your body’s natural immunity. Try to fill half of your plate with live food... fruits and vegetables

8. Eat Probiotics
Probiotics in foods and supplements give your immune system a boost, which helps ward off and fight colds. Food such as yogurt, pickles, fermented fruits and vegetables, and sauerkraut.

9. Take Vitamin C Supplements
Vitamin C enhances your immune system, but you may not be ingesting large enough doses of vitamin C from foods alone, so taking a supplement of vitamin C may help.

10. Get Plenty of Rest
If you have a cold, getting plenty of rest is one of the best ways to fight it and reduce its severity. Most adults need 7 to 9 hours of sleep each night to maximize health, but if you’re sick you might require additional sleep to recover from a cold or the flu quickly and prevent possible complications.

11. Drink Lots of Water
When you’re sick with a cold or the flu, dehydration is a concern. Drinking lots of water, clear broths, clear juices, or warm water with lemon helps prevent dehydration and loosen congestion. Aim for a minimum of 12 cups of fluid daily for women and 16 cups per day for men to ensure proper hydration and reduce the duration of sicknesses.

12. Ingest Selenium
Selenium is an antioxidant that’s important for keeping your immune system strong. Foods rich in selenium include Brazil nuts, chia seeds, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds, wheat products, oatmeal, and brown rice. . Fruits and vegetables don’t have much selenium so taking selenium supplements can help you meet daily selenium needs to fight colds naturally.

13. Get Lots of Vitamin D
Believe it or not, vitamin D plays a crucial role in strong immune health. Many reports that people with vitamin D deficiency are more likely to get colds, other respiratory infections, and the flu. Vitamin D comes from sunshine and unfortunately, many Americans aren’t getting enough vitamin D from sunshine alone. That’s why vitamin D supplements are helpful especially during the winter months.

14. Use Garlic
Raw garlic consumption is helpful to boost your immune system. Its cloves can be helpful to fight off the common cold.

15. Avoid Processed Foods
Added sugar, gluten, and processed foods should be avoided because all of these can decrease the immune functions greatly. Many processed foods can provide nutrients and energy, but ultimately it leads to negative implications overall.

16. Avoid Tobacco Smoke
Smoking increases the risk of pneumonia and bronchitis as well as your vulnerability to lung function.

17. Drink Less Alcohol
Alcohol’s excessive consumption may increase the risk of lung infection and can weaken your immune system.

18. Manage Stress
Stress can change your mood and drains the body and mind. Opening yourself to stress also can open up your body to getting sick.

19. Regular Exercise
Regular exercise is great for your body. If you can’t do heavy exercise, even walking for around 30 minutes can make a difference to your immune system.

20. Pray
Prayer is always the answer to everything! Asking God to protect and reading His word is a great way to build your mental mind while getting closer to God as well! That is a win-win for me!

God designed our bodies to fight off sickness and disease naturally, without the need for medications. Keep your immune system strong with supplements, a nutritious diet, plenty of sleep, regular exercise, reduced stress, and an overall healthy lifestyle.

New Year... New YOU!!!

Happy New Year's Everyone! I pray that God will be with you all, lead you, direct you, and be with you in this new year. I am truly blessed to have my family, to be at home, safe, and healthy. I am also grateful for all of you and the support you have given me with the 1st full year of my blog. It has been a hard 2020 for my family this year, with the loss of family and not due to the virus... and I know for you all as well. I am so glad for my relationship with Christ and always knowing he is a constant in my life. What a comfort with all the challenges we have faced. I believe 2020 reminded me of what means most... God, Family, and Life! I learned to let things go, enjoy each day, and love the simple things that we took for granted! When days got hard, it reminded me of what is truly important... my faith, we are together, we are healthy and we are safe. I hope and pray for the same for you all! My prayer is that 2021 will allow all of us to renew our faith in the Lord... bring new possibilities, togetherness, adventure, all while we hold on to the value of the simple moments that we came to appreciate in 2020. So, with that, I want to share with you all ways I try to keep myself healthy and strong. I have to admit I always want to start the new year out by taking care of myself... spiritually and physically. I love reading a chapter from the book of Proverbs each day. I also am starting to reread the New Testament. Reading God's word to start my morning always makes me feels good and just a great way to begin each new day He has given! I try to eat clean and I do exercise regularly, but I am always looking for new exciting ways to make myself healthy. I know the trend right now is Peleton, and that is great for some, but the price might be overwhelming for others. So, I wanted to share with you all the equipment I use daily, plus other alternatives that get and keep you healthy. Exercise, eat right, and taking vitamins is a great way to keep your body's immune system strong, and that is so important right now!

Here is a round-up of my favorite Bibles, devotionals, vitamins, and exercise equipment. I pray you all, Stay Healthy and Stay Safe this New Year!

Here Are Some Great Quick At-Home Workouts that Cost Nothing but will be Pay in the long run for your Health!

*Climb Those Stairs! If you are lucky enough to live in a home that has stairs – start using them! Walking up and downstairs is a great cardio workout. It helps to sculpt and keep your lower body lean. Just a minute a day and you will really see and feel a difference.

*Kitchen Counter Push-Ups. One of my favorite quick at-home workout moves - lean against your kitchen counter with your hands shoulder-width apart, like you are in a push-up position, place your feet behind you a few feet out, then lower your chest towards the counter like you are doing a pushup.

*Walking in Place. A great cardio workout that provides some resistance to help build muscle. Start by walking for one minute (don’t forget to pump those arms!!), and progress each day.

*Strength Training. Lift some weights (grab anything on hand that has some weight to it) and do some lunges while lifting. A Great Duo!

I hope these quick at-home workouts help you stay motivated and to get in some exercise at home – plus they will keep you emotionally balanced during these times!!! Get Refresh in God's Word & Fit Inside & Out!
